WINTER GARDEN SALE RESULTS!

We had our tables staffed with garden volunteers in front of the MPR Monday-Friday last week with beautiful recycled beaded ornaments, wreaths, lavender sachets, living ivy topiary wreaths, beaded earrings and loads of other garden/nature/recycled items for sale along with Jennifer Nachmanoff's pottery that she donated to our program!
The bottom line is that we made over $1200 for our garden program! Thanks so much for your support!

Welcome to our New Garden Blog!

It's finally here! This will be a great place to communicate with each other outside of emails and Facebook.
DECEMBER - We really only have 2 weeks until Winter Break! Next week, Dec. 6-10, we'll have our After-School Garden Workshops where we'll make wreaths, nature crafts and other garden related fun. We'll be in room 6 for several hours each day starting right after school. Our WINTER GARDEN SALE is set up that last week of school before break, Dec. 13-17, in front of the MPR. Lots of fun for kids and adults! We'll need volunteers for everything!

Winter Gardening

On clear days we can still have outdoor gardening happening!  Some might choose afternoons over mornings on these cold days. These next few weeks we'll finish planting in the veggie gardens. This is a great time to get those garlic cloves planted for Spring harvest! We have loads of compost in the Arboretum and potting soil in the Nursery area. Plant starts like Arugula, Spinach and Broccoli can still be found in the Nursery as well.
These Winter months are a good time to focus on the nutrition part of the gardening program. Please comment with recipes and ideas of what can be done with the students this time of year :-)
